Google launches Gemini 4 Argon AI model for paying subscribers
Google released Gemini 4 Argon, its new frontier AI model offering advanced reasoning, coding, and competitive pricing for paying subscribers.
Google has launched its long-awaited Gemini 4 Argon model, marking its first major frontier AI release since Gemini 3 in late 2025. The new model is rolling out globally to users and developers, promising improved performance across complex workflows and demanding professional tasks.
What is Gemini 4 Argon?
Gemini 4 Argon is Google's latest high-end artificial intelligence model designed for deep work in complex fields like coding, cybersecurity, finance, legal work, and science. Google states that Argon delivers advanced reasoning and deep visual perception while cutting down on repetition, cliches, and hedging in its responses.
Internal testing at Google showed the model helping software engineers ship code faster, improving YouTube comment system efficiency, and debugging physics simulators. Isomorphic Labs has also used the model to quickly review complex patents and scientific PDFs for drug discovery.
When and where can you use it?
Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out globally across several Google platforms, though access depends on subscription tiers. General users on the AI Pro and AI Ultra plans can access Argon within the Gemini app and AI mode in Search. For developers and power users, the model is available via the API in AI Studio and through Google's agentic development platform, Antigravity, specifically for AI Ultra subscribers.
Developers accessing the model through the paid API will receive an introductory price through November, set at two dollars per million input tokens and ten dollars per million output tokens, before standard rates apply.
Why it matters for businesses
The release of Gemini 4 Argon brings Google back into the competitive frontier AI race alongside rivals like Anthropic and OpenAI. With strong performance on industry benchmarks and aggressive pricing, businesses and developers looking for automated code generation, complex document analysis, and advanced problem-solving now have a powerful new option to consider for their workflows.
